The gardens at Briery Wood Country House Hotel were sculpted by the first owner and still display their original splendour due to the caring attention given by our excellent gardener, Mr Simon Hartley. The building and gardens are set in 7 acres of grounds and are surrounded by woodland and beautiful scenery.
Of particular interest is our spectacular monkey-puzzle tree, located within the grounds. The Monkey-Puzzle Tree- Araucaria araucana - an evergreen tree native to Chile with sharp scaly leaves that denseley cover the spreading and drooping branches. They are cultivated as ornamental plants in Europe and the United States and were introduced into England in 1850. Noted as a "magnificent specimen", by the Tree Registrar of England, the monkey-puzzle tree at Briery Wood Country House Hotel is one of the finest examples in the country and is estimated to be around 150 years old.
