Alliance & Leicester Lending Division, Team Build Events

Date: November 2004 - June 2005

Venue: Briery Wood Hotel, Windermere

Group size: 20 delegates per event with 2 Senior Managers

Duration: 11 x 1 day events

Format: Knockout Contest & Hawaii Five-O

Objectives:

To re-energise and motivate the staff
To promote the development of an effective, cross functional, team working culture
To develop a sense of "one team"
To allow teams from a variety of disciplines across the business to address a specific and relevant business issue and to present their proposals/solutions
How it worked:

The day started with the group arriving in a coach at Briery Wood. After a quick introduction the day kicked off with the Knockout Contest, which consisted of a variety of fun tasks designed to promote communication and team work.

After lunch the group set off to complete the Orienteering challenge set in the grounds of Briery Wood. The afternoon culminated in the Hawaii Five-O Raft Race on Windermere before returning to the hotel for a celebration drinks. A spoof awards ceremony was held after dinner.

Alliance & Leicester Public Sector Team, Networking Event

Date: 13th - 14th June 2005

Venue: Briery Wood Hotel, Windermere

Group size: 20 delegates

Duration: 2 half days

Format: Hawaii Five-O and Network TV

Objectives:

To understand Public Sector Strategy and Ambitions
To understand how to get the best from Networking at a conference
To develop team working
How it worked:

2 days prior to attending a Public Sector Lending Conference, A&L’s sales team gathered in the Lake District to build on networking skills and get to know each other as a team. There were inputs from Consultants in networking techniques and public sector lending consultants. The teambuilding element involved constructing and racing rafts on Lake Windermere. To consolidate learning from the indoor sessions, teams scripted and acted in light-hearted videos featuring best practice in the art of Networking.
